I design with people, not for them, and believe that good design is inclusive, interdependent, and interdisciplinary.
I believe that everything is design(ed) and that everyone is a designer. There is inherent power in design, and every decision we make impacts the systems in which we live.
I'm influenced by frameworks and groups including the following: Design Justice Network principles, Equity-Centered Community Design, emergent strategy, and the consentful tech framework.
I collaborate to design services, experiences, and systems focused on community, learning, and care. I especially care about projects that put people over profit, and center consent, accessibility, and design justice.
I offer customized mentoring and coaching services in topics including: user experience design, design research, design strategy, freelancing, and critical approaches to design. One-time and ongoing coaching is available.See Coaching Services

Hey, I'm Erika (she/they). I'm a queer, mixed race educator, facilitator, freelance experience designer, contemporary dancer, urban farmer, and printmaker.
I care about collaboratively designing meaningful, multimodal experiences that facilitate critical thought and action, and I emphasize using design to co-create more just, equitable, and inclusive systems.
I've collaborated with the Design Justice Network, Creative Reaction Lab, Mikva Challenge, and DesignLab as an educator, experience designer, researcher, youth program facilitator, and mentor.
In my arts practice, I produce works that critically examine and celebrate communities to which I belong and identities I hold. My works explore themes of power, fluidity, appropriation, and self.
I'm positively obsessed with project-based engagements, thoughtful + collaborative decision-making, cooking homestyle japanese meals, sunsets, foliage, complexity, and ambiguity.
